On July 20, 2023, a meeting of the High Qualification Commission of Judges of Ukraine considered the issue of continuing the evaluation procedures provided for by the Law of Ukraine “On the Judiciary and the Status of Judges”.
As a result of the meeting, it was decided to carry out a repeated automated distribution of cases among the Commission members in respect of:
- persons whose five-year term of appointment as judges has expired;
- persons appointed (elected) to the position of a judge and recognized by the panels of the High Qualification Commission of Judges of Ukraine as being suitable for the position of a judge (the issue was submitted for consideration by the HQCJ in plenary due to the opinion of the Public Integrity Council on the judge’s failure to meet the criteria of professional ethics and integrity);
- persons appointed (elected) to the position of a judge and subject to disciplinary sanctions, which involve undergoing a qualification evaluation to confirm the judge’s ability to administer justice in the relevant court;
- persons in respect of whom it is necessary to continue the qualification evaluation in pursuance of a court decision.
